James T. Hamilton Dead.

James T. Hamilton, long one of the best known citizens of Franklin, but who has been living at Indianapolis for a number of years, died at his home in that city Sunday morning at the age of seventy-seven years. The funeral services will be held this evening at 7:30 o’clock at the residence, 767 North Warman avenue. The burial will be at Franklin, the funeral party arriving here about 10:30 o’clock Tuesday morning.

Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife and ten children. The children are Mrs. Mel McClain, Mrs. Lige Stevens and Mrs. Charles Legan, of this city, Mrs. Will Green, Mrs. Flo Coon, Mrs. Jesse Alread, Otto, Elzie, Peter and Will Hamilton, all of Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton had been married over sixty years and in the rearing of this large family of children this is the first death in the immediate family.

He also leaves a brother, Robert Hamilton, south of town, and a sister, Mrs. Martha McNutt, of Osceola, Ill. Another sister, Mrs. Nancy Vandivier, of Franklin, died last fall.

Mr. Hamilton was born in this county and spent the greater part of his life in and near Franklin. He served as a soldier in the Civil War and was a member of Co. E, 7th Indiana. For many years he had been a member of the Masonic lodge. He also was a member of the First Baptist church of Franklin.

Until the last few years when advanced age brought about infirmaries, he had enjoyed unusual hearty health.
