Dennie Groomer
Long-time Cordry-Sweetwater Conservancy District resident Dennie A. Groomer died Thursday, August 8, 1996, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was 85.
Mr. Groomer was born December 20, 1910, in Salsbury to David and Cleola Burch Groomer.
He and Alma Quimby were married February 28, 1931, in Bloomfield. She survives.
Mr. Groomer had been one of the first residents of the conservancy district.
Mr. Groomer had worked at Indianapolis Radiator. He also had worked at International Harvester for 20 years.
He was a member of Hamblen Township’s Church of the Lakes, Englewood Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.
Other survivors include two daughters, Dorine Canary of Indianapolis and Lois Barr of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The Reverend Richard Crowley conducted a service Sunday, August 11, at the Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
