A former deputy sheriff and county highway superintendent, John B. Green, 88, died at 10:15 o’clock Wednesday night at his home, 515 Second Street. He and his wife, Mrs. Ida Green, had been living at that address for the past 45 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Flanigan and Reed Funeral Home by the Rev. Ray Bozell with burial at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburg.
The casket will be open at the funeral home after 11 o’clock Friday morning until time of the services Saturday.
Mr. Green was born April 14, 1870, in Nineveh township in Johnson County, the son of Henry and Jane Johnson Green. On July 26, 1893, he was married to Ida Milnes. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
He had served as a deputy in Bartholomew County under Sheriffs Damas Essex and Irvin Cox. For two years, 1932 to 1934, he was the county highway superintendent. He retired several years ago and had been in ill health for two years.
