OBITUARY.
Caroline E. Cayce was born in Green Co., Ky., March 24, 1816, and died Jan. 9, 1895, aged seventy-five years, ten months and fifteen days.
Her mother died when Caroline was thirteen years of age. In a short time after her mother’s death, she went with her father and four brothers to Nashville, Tenn., where she lived until her marriage to Henry Jeffries of Kentucky. The first years of her married life, were spent in Louisville and Montgomery Co., Ky. She came with her family to Indiana in the year 1853, settling in Trafalgar, this county. She afterward lived for several years near Spencer, Ind., where her husband and oldest daughter died. She was the mother of six children, all living to mature age. Her son, Wm. Jeffries, of Johnson county, died in 1885.
About the year 1880, she married Samuel Green, who died a few years later. Since her early life, she has been a faithful member of the church of Christ. She was a true and loving mother, her move being forcibly shown in her long devotion to a son, who, during a life of fifty years, has suffered from ill health. Sweet and tender are the memories we have of our mother’s love, and dear is the name grandma to her eighteen grandchildren. Her long and eventful life is ended, and she is with husband, son and daughter and her Saviour at rest. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. They rest from their labors, and their works do follow them.”
