OBITUARY

The sad intelligence arrived here a few days ago, announcing the death of William Graves, who was well and favorably known here by all. The deceased was born at Nineveh Jan. 5th, 1865, where he had made his home until a few years ago. He attended Butler University during the years ’85 and ’86 after which he entered Garfield University at Wichita, Kan., thence he removed to a “claim” near Alamos, Col. where he died after a brief illness of flux which terminated in a congestive chill. He departed this life Aug. 13th, 1888, at the age of 23 years, 7 months and 8 days, leaving his parents, four brothers and three sisters and a host of friends to mourn their loss. He identified himself with the Christian church at the age of 16 and lived a true and faithful Christian until the end of his life, and while we deeply regret that one of our most promising young men has been taken away from us, there is cause for rejoicing that his life has not been in vain. The example that he has set is one that it would be well to imitate. In life he manifested the essentials of goodness and his character was such that he could have justly been styled a model young man.
