Mrs. Jordan Graves, aged forty-four, an estimable Christian, died at 5 a.m. December 8th, of typhoid fever. She leaves a husband, four daughters and one son. Mrs. Graves was buried here at 4 p.m. Dec. 9th.

Note: The 1880 US Federal Census for Washington, Clark, Indiana records twenty-nine-year-old, Indiana-born school teacher Jordan Graves, his thirty-two-year-old Kentucky-born wife Emma [sic] D. Graves and their Indiana-born daughters, six-year-old Elizabeth F., four-year-old Anna B. and one-year-old Cordia M.
