OBITUARY.
George V., son of Amos and Elizabeth Gillaspy, died at his home about five miles west of Trafalgar, on the morning of May 31, [1890], aged twenty years, seven months and two days. During the month of January he was taken ill with la grippe, from which he never recovered and soon consumption, that dread disease, developed and day by day he wasted away until death set its victim free. He was a young man of much promise, with rare gifts of both mind and heart. He leaves behind him a monument of a good name which is better than gold and the fragrance of his pure life fills the home and hearts of his bereaved mother, brother and sisters.
Although his suffering was long and at times almost unbearable yet he did not complain or murmur at his lot, but was ever cheerful and ready to look on the bright side. Every effort was made to relieve his pain, hoping against hope for the restoration of health, but medical skill was baffled in every attempt. He taught school last winter in his own district and could have taught at the same place next term had he kept his health.
His remains were conveyed to Lick Spring cemetery and placed in the cold and silent grave by the side of his beloved father, who passed over the river of death and entered that great unknown beyond about five years ago.
