Many readers of the Democrat will be pained to learn of the death of one of Edinburg’s most prominent citizens Thomas B. Forelander: Wednesday’s Call [Edinburg Evening Call] says:
“This morning at 9:20 o’clock, occurred the death of Squire Thomas B. Forelander, after many weeks sickness, aged about seventy years. Mr. Forelander by trade was a miller, having a number of years ago conducted a flouring mill in Nineveh. Later he came to Edinburg and was engaged in the milling business with the John A. Thompson mill, in which he worked until his health failed and he gave up the position. Six years ago he was elected Justice of the Peace, in which capacity he served until his death. Mr. Forelander was a good, kind, old gentleman and loved by all who knew him. He was ever upright in all his dealings with his fellow men and no one ever had an unkind word for him. Deceased leaves a wife and two children, William Forelander and Mrs. Susie Moore, now living at Martinsville. The remains will be in charge of the Odd Fellows.”
Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 69, referencing Book H-25 page 33, records that Thomas B Forelander, a seventy-year-old white male, died 14 Aug 1894 in Edinburg.
