FINNEY, Nellie
Date of death: 27 Aug 1893 – Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana
The Franklin Democrat, Friday, September 8, 1893,
Volume XXXIV Number 9, page 1 column 3
Miss Nellie Finney, daughter of George E. Finney, died Sunday evening at her home, corner Fourth and Pearl Streets, after a lingering illness of consumption. The dread disease began to show about last February, but not until six weeks ago did she become bedridden. She was 24 years old, and was born when Mr. Finney was a resident of Elizabethtown. Her death will be mourned with sincere regret, as she was a young lady of many estimable qualities of heart and mind. The deceased was a member of the order of Phythian sisters.—Columbus Herald.
Miss Finney was at one time a resident of Franklin, a girl ten or twelve years old, when her father owned an interest in the Democrat.
Note: The Bartholomew County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, referencing Book HD-4, page 6, records that Nellie Finney, a twenty-four-year-old white female, died 27 Aug 1893 in Columbus.
