OBITUARY.
William Edelman [sic] was born in Green County, Tennessee. The date of his birth and the history of his family are unknown from lack of family record. He was mustered into the 33rd Ind. Vol. Inf., Sept. 19, 1864, and discharged May 10, 1865. His discharge at the time of enrollment gave his age as thirty-one. This would make him 65 or 66 at the time of his death.
He was twice married, first to Miss Lizzie Alexander. To them were born five children: John, Ella, Albert, Rebecca and Nora. The mother and Ella have passed into the world unseen.
The second marriage was to Miss Josie Sherman. By this union he was the father of three children: May, Ernest and Marie, all of whom are living.
He was well known in Johnson county, having lived here for years. Mr. Samuel Brown said to the writer that for years Mr. Edleman [sic] lived on his farm and he had never known a person who was more conscientious and strictly upright in all his dealings than Mr. Edelman. Others corroborate this testimony.
He was suddenly and unexpectedly called from time into eternity Wednesday, March 22, 1899. Brief funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the North Baptist church in Franklin, in the presence of his sorrowing wife, children, and other relatives and friends, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Hopewell Cemetery.
