Death of David Ernest.
David Ernest, aged 67 years, a well-known and highly respected citizen of the Hurricane neighborhood died at his home, Saturday evening at 7:30 o’clock. His death was caused from organic trouble of the heart. One year ago last August, he first became seriously ill, but was able to be about the greater part of the time. Since that date his health has been poor. Deceased was born in Washington county, Va., August 12 1829. He came to Johnson county in 1852. In 1855, he was married to Miss Mary Ann Bennett, to which union was born one son, Todd Ernest. The wife and son both survive him. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Hurricane Baptist church, conducted by Prof. C. H. Hall, assisted by Rev. E. S. Gardiner. Mr. Ernest was an industrious, honest, upright citizen, and during his life displayed those true qualities of character which won for him warm and lasting friendship. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their affliction.
