Obituary
In the silent watches of the night the Death Angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. Dl Harter and called another loved one to the eternal home. Wilbur Durbin, only son of Lewis and Mell Hibbs Durbin was born March 26, 1881, and died at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Harter, near 2nd Mt. Pleasant church, Needham township, Johnson county, Ind., Jan. 4, 1902, age 20years, 9 months and 8 days.
His mother died when he was five years of age and for about ten years he found a home with Mrs. Ridenbauch.
About the first of last September he came to live with his aunt where relatives and friends did all they could to relieve his suffering but consumption claimed its victim and he crossed the river of Death and entered the unknown beyond from which non ever return. The mother and one sister died several years ago and the father with one sister survives. Thus one more dwells in the land beyond than are left to our. “Be ye also ready.”
Early in life he began his preparation and became a member of the Williamsburg Methodist church and although he sometimes stepped astray he said he had asked the Lord to forgive him and he felt that he had. He said he was not afraid to die but was ready and willing to go and was only waiting for the summons.
Besides those nearest and dearest to him he lives other relatives and a host of friends who loved him and who look ahead to a happy reunion where all tears are wiped away and joy and gladness reineth forever. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."
