DONAHUE, 90, PASSES AWAY Edinburg, Jan. 14 -- Michael Donahue, 90, a native of Ireland, and for the past 36 years a resident of Edinburg, died at his home on Shelby Avenue at 11:30 o’clock this morning after an illness of several months. For the past weeks he has been confined to his bed. Death was due to the general infirmities of advanced years. The deceased came from County Mayo, Ireland, when a young man and began to work as a railroad hand. While located at North Vernon he married Miss Mary McGinty in 1874 and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Charles Smith, of Indianapolis, who survives him. Mrs. Donahue died in 1887 and a few years later he married Mrs. Nannie Cooper who also survives him. Besides the widow and daughter he is survived by a brother, Martin Donahue, of Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. George Shepard of Edinburg. He is also survived by several stepchildren, Mrs. Rose Smith and Mrs. Alice Shoemaker of Indianapolis, Mrs. Lida Gerstaff, of Gas City, and Manuel Cooper, of Columbus. Mr. Donahue was connected with the Pennsylvania Railroad while in Edinburg and for many years was crossing watchman at Main Cross Street. He was retired on pension a few years ago and poor health has confined him to his home most of the time. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburg.
