DEATH OF MRS. DEVORE.

Mrs. Ellen Devore died suddenly at 3:30 o’clock Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Hendrickson, in the Shiloh neighbor­hood.

Deceased was born May 9, 1844 in Lexington, Ky; and when a child came to this county. She was married March 8, 1866 to David Devore, who died in 1896. She is survived by one daughter at whose home she died, and three sons, Philander, Albert and Pearl Devore.

Funeral services were held Wed­nesday afternoon at Shiloh church, conducted by Rev. U. L. Montgomery, a former pastor, now of Kalamazoo, Mich. Burial at Greenlawn.

Death of Mrs. Ellen Devore.

The many friends of Mrs. Ellen DeVore were shocked to learn of her sudden death, which occurred at 3:30 Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Hendrickson, in the Shiloh neighborhood.

Mrs. DeVore had been a great sufferer for many years from asthma and heart trouble and the last six weeks her health had failed rapidly.

She made her home with her son, P. C. DeVore, 247 South Hougham street, but about a week ago went for a short visit with her children in the country. Little did her friends think she would never return home.

Ellen Turpin DeVore was born near Lexington, Ky., May 9th 1844. She was left an orphan at an early age and came to Indiana making her home with her sister, Mrs. Greenup Davis.

She was married to David DeVore, March 8th, 1866. Mr. DeVore died August 29th, 1896. During their entire married life they resided in the Shiloh neighborhood where they were loved and respected by all. For a number of years she has lived in Franklin.

Mrs. DeVore was a devoted mother and kind neighbor. Her genial dis­position endeared her to many friends who will greatly miss her.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jack Hendrickson, and three sons, Philander, Albert and Pearl; five grand­children and one great-grandchild. Also by five sisters, Mrs. Emma Maddox, Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman, Mrs. Lucy Kinney and Mrs. Sarah Mueller and Mrs. Luella Jones, all of Bloomington, Ill., who were summoned to her bedside, but were unable to reach here until shortly after her death.

Mrs. DeVore had long been a faithful member of the Shiloh Presbyterian church from which place her funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by her former pastor, U. L. Montgomery. Burial in Greenlawn cemetery.
