¶A. C. Devore, 65, better known as “Bert,” died Friday morning at 5 o’clock at his home, three miles north of Needham in Clark township. Mr. Devore had suffered from asthma for a number of years and had been confined to his bed since just before Christmas.
Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Second Mt. Pleasant church. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
The body will be taken to the home Saturday morning and friends may call at any time after noon Saturday, and are invited to attend the funeral.
Mr. Devore was born east of Franklin, Dec. 17, 1876, the son of David and Ellen Turpin Devore. On Oct. 15, 1896, he married Miss Matilda Stillabower, who survives. The couple had no children.
Two brothers, Philander Devore, east of Franklin, and Pearl Devore, of Indianapolis, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Devore was a member of the Second Mt. Pleasant church and of the Franklin Red Men lodge and the Acton Knights of Pythias lodge. He was a lifelong farmer and active in the affairs of his community, where he had a host of friends.
