In Memoriam.
Marcus Denton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Denton, died Nov. 27, 1896, aged 7 years, 10 months and 28 days, after a short illness of diphtheria.
“Only a little child,” someone will say but a home is left desolate, a father’s heart is sad and a mother’s heart is broken. “Only a little girl,” but the light has gone from the home and the bereaved parents feel that earth has lost its joy and they wonder if life will ever hold gladness for them again. We know that it is well with the little one, and to those who trust in Jesus, “earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”
Farewell darling, we all miss you,
The days seem drear since you are gone,
We are coming, yes, we’ll meet you
We are coming, it can’t be long.
We can see you when we’re dreaming,
With the angels ’round the throne.
We are coming, we will greet you,
We are coming, it can’t be long.
Well we know the day you left us,
We could not give the parting kiss,
It was too sad, my heart seemed bleeding,
We are coming, it can’t be long.
We think we hear those tiny footsteps
Pattering ’round about the floor,
But we know that we’ve been dreaming—
They can be heard on earth no more.
We will meet, we will kiss you
In that land beyond the skies,
Good-bye, Marcus, the ties seem severed
That once bound this earthly home.
We will meet you up in heaven
Where no parting ever comes.
One Who Loved Her.
