DEATH OF WILLIAM DEMOTT. [sic DeMotte]

Wm. DeMott, who has been ill for the past four weeks with typhoid fever, passed away Monday afternoon about 4:30 o’clock at his home on Jackson street.

Mr. DeMott was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. DeMott, and was born at Hopewell Aug. 12, 1857. Eighteen years ago he was married to Miss Lizzie Aten, and to them was born one son, Norval, who with his mother survives.

Mr. DeMott was most highly respected by everybody who knew him. He was honest, trustworthy and energetic. He united with the Presbyterian church in his youth and at the time of his death was a member of the First Presbyterian church of this city.

Mr. DeMott came to Franklin nine years ago and engaged in the agricultural and implement business. For the past two years he had been connected with J. M. Story in the hardware business, until about two weeks previous to his illness, when he had accepted a position as traveling salesman for a windmill firm in Kendalville, and after but a week’s work, was compelled to return home. His aged parents and family have the deepest sympathy of all in their sorrow.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall and Rev. J. H. Bright of Hopewell. Burial at Hopewell.
