Dies Wednesday
Mrs. Zora Covert Demaree, age 94, the last of a family of seven children, died early Wednesday morning at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital after an illness of six weeks.
The body has been taken to the Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home pending word from relatives. Funeral services will be announced later.
The daughter of the late Barney Vaught and Sarah Bergen Covert, Mrs. Demaree was born in the Hopewell community on Nov. 15, 1864, and was educated in the Hopewell School.
Moved to Franklin
On Sept. 13, 1892, she became the bride of Charles Miller Demaree and they spent their married life in Whiteland. Mr. Demaree died in 1932. The remainder of Mrs. Demaree’s life had been spent in Franklin and in recent years had been cared for by Mrs. Robert Mull in the Mull home.
Mrs. Demaree was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian church at Whiteland.
Her survivors are two grand-nephews, Arthur Beldon, Gordon Beldon; and a grand-niece, Mrs. Gertrude Pedler, all of Muskegon, Mich.
Also remaining are two cousins, James G. Covert, of Franklin; and Omer Covert, of Chicago, Ill.
A sister, Miss Sarah Covert, died two years ago at the age of 95.
