RAYMOND DEER The Rev. Jesse McKiny conducted funeral services at Eskew Funeral Home in Edinburg at 1:30 p.m. Monday for Raymond L. Deer, 74, Edinburg route 3, who died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at University Hospital at Indian- apolis after a one-month illness. The services originally announced for Friday were postponed because of severe weather. The burial was at Rest Haven at Edinburg. Pall bearers were Leland Robertson, Welbourne Snepp, Ted Wertz, Rick, Alan and David Piercefield. Deer was born Jan. 17, 1903, in Johnson County to Willis H. and Susan Plummer Deer. He married the former Alta Stainbrook Oct. 28, 1924, and she survives. A member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at Smithland, he was a member of the Edinburg Masonic Lodge #100. A farmer, he was retired from Miles Labora- tories at Edinburg. After his retirement he had been employed with Robertson Chevrolet at Edinburg; he attended Purdue University and Franklin College. Other survivors include a daughter, Jane Taylor of Edinburg; two grandchildren and a great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Paddack Voris and a brother, Lloyd Deer.
