An Old Veteran Gone.
Miles DeCoursey, a well-known and respected citizen of this county, departed this life Jan. 24, 1896, age fifty-five years. He was married to Hannah Chambers in 1867, and unto them three sons and one daughter was born, all of whom survive him, and mourn the loss of a kind father. He was a kind and good neighbor, and leaves a large circle of friends. He was a member of the Young’s Creek Christian church at the time of his death.
He served his county well as a soldier in the late war, having enlisted with the 7th Ind. Regiment, serving nearly three years, and receiving an honorable discharge. While it has been the will of an all wise Providence to remove him from our midst, we feel that he has only received his discharge from this world and gone to receive that rich reward that awaits all of Christ’s soldiers. “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
