Noah Davis, formerly of Edinburg, died at Manila where he went last fall as a soldier in the regular army.
Note: U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798–1914 [database on-line, Ancestry.com] records that on 25 Apr 1897, Noah Davis, aged twenty-one years, eleven months, enlisted in the U.S. Army for a period of three years. His enlisting officer was Capt. Hoyt. At the time of his enlistment, Noah Davis was a laborer, living in Edinburg, Indiana. He was blue-eyed, auburn-haired, fair-skinned and 5 feet 9-1/2 inches tall. He was assigned to the 3rd Artillery, Company K. Private Noah Davis died 27 Dec 1898 in Manila, Philippines of typhoid pneumonia.
