Everett Ellsworth Cum- mings, 72, former farmer and area businessman, died Tues- day near his home at 779 N. Graham St, Franklin. Born Oct. 5, 1907 in Lawrence County, the son of William Elza and Sarah Elizabeth Cummings, he attended Hopewell schools. He married Martha Clara Mathena, May 5, 1928, in Lawrence County and she sur- vives. A Johnson County resident since 1912, he was employed as a dispatcher for the Franklin Police Department for 10 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police Associate Lodge 111 The Rev. Stanley Howell will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. Survivors include his children, Ruth Jeanette Orr of Columbus, Robert W. Cum- mings and Dan Arthur Cum- mings, both of Franklin, Jack G. Cummings of Trafalgar and Sharon Lawson of Bargers- ville; brothers, Alvin Cum- mings and Ferman Cummings, both of Franklin, Oren Cum- mings of Mississippi, Ray- mond Cummings of England; sisters, Hazel Manley of Ken- tucky, Geneva Martin, Helen Thomas, Martha Patterson, all of Mississippi. He was prededed in death by one brother and one sister.
