E. C. Crooker whose home has not yet been learned came to Franklin early last week and had a lemonade stand on the Fair grounds. He boarded at the Merchants Hotel. On Saturday morning he was taken sick and called in Dr. Ott who found him suffering intensely from stricture of the bladder. He continued to grow worse despite everything that could be done. On Monday morning about six o’clock he died. His only acquaintance here at the time was a young man who traveled with him as assistant. A telegram was sent to a physician at Lebanon who it was learned from letters on the person of the deceased, had been waiting on him professionally at some time past. This physician sent back word to write his folks at Lima, O. A telegram was sent to the postmaster at that place but no response was received. Tuesday morning, on examining the hat worn by Crooker the address Marion, Ind., was found. No information, however, has yet been obtained, concerning his residence there. The body has been put in the vault here to await further developments. Crooker was about thirty years old and leaves two small children orphans, the mother having died about a year ago.
