Wm. Coy died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Strohmeir, on the Greensburg road, after an illness of several months from cancer of the stomach. Deceased was in his seventy-second year, and had resided with his daughter since the death of his wife in 1898. He came to Johnson County at an early date, settling on a farm in Nineveh Township. He was a member of the Tennessee church for many years. Funeral services were held from that church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Freeman. Burial at the cemetery near the church.

Coy died at 11 o’clock p. m. on 23 Jul 1900 in Bluff Creek from hepatic carcinoma of several months’ duration, aged seventy-one years, nine months and eight days. He was male, white and married, born in Switzerland County, Indiana. His father’s name was Wm. Coy and his mother’s maiden name Sina Chandler Coy [sic], birthplace of both unknown. Stacy E. Strohemeir was the informant. William was buried in Johnson County, Indiana on 25 Jul 1900, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
