Ira M. Coy Rites To Be
Conducted Saturday Afternoon
EDINBURG — Ira M. Coy, retired rural mail carrier, died at his home, 402 Keeley Street, Wednesday night about 8:30 o’clock, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Edinburg Methodist Church Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. B. J. Renner, in charge of the services. Burial will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Mutz Funeral Home at any time after 2 o’clock Friday afternoon and after 12:30 p.m. at the church. They are invited to attend the rites.
Mr. Coy was born Sept. 24, 1873, in Bartholomew County and his parents were the late Matthew and Rebecca Poe Coy.
His first wife was Vinnie McQueen and after her death, he married the former Barbara Ott in 1916.
For 34 years, Mr. Coy had been a rural mail carrier and retired in 1930.
He was a member of the Edinburg Methodist Church where he was an active worker and a member of the Taylorsville Red Men Lodge.
The survivors are the widow, three daughters and four sons who are Mrs. James H. Stout, Raymond Coy, of Franklin; Ezra Coy, of Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Eugene Riley, of Columbus; Meredith Coy, of Edinburg; Dwight Coy and Mrs. Thomas Winter, of Detroit, Mich.
Others who remain are 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. L.A. Wirey, of Franklin.

DIES AT HOME
EDINBURG—Ira M. Coy, 90, a retired rural mail carrier, died about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at his Edinburg home after 1-year illness. Mr. Coy lived at 402 Keeley street.
He was a mail carrier 34 years in the rural area around Edinburg until retiring in 1939.
Born Sept. 24, 1873, in Bartholomew county, he was the son of Matthew and Rebecca Poe Coy. He married the former Miss Vinnie McQueen early in life and in 1918 married the former Miss Barbara Ott. She survives.
He belonged to the Edinburg Methodist church and the Taylorsville Redmen’s lodge.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. James Stout of Franklin rural route, Mrs. Eugene Riley of 2524 Pearl Street and Mrs. Thomas Winter of Detroit; four sons, Meredith and Raymond Coy, both of Franklin, Ezra D. Coy of Miami, Fla., and Dwight L. Coy of Detroit, Mich; a sister, Mrs. L.A. Wirey of Franklin, 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Edinburg Methodist church with burial at Rest Haven cemetery. Rev. B. J. Renner, minister of the church, will conduct the rites.
Persons may call at the Mutz Funeral home in Edinburg after 2 p.m. Friday until 12:30 p.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church.
