Mrs. Emma Coy, Dies

Mrs. Elizabeth Coy, 83, native of Bartholomew county, died at 10 o’clock Monday night in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Reba Boll, Route 4, is a daughter of Mrs. Coy.
Mrs. Coy had made her home with her son, Dallas Coy, near Whiteland. She had been in ill health for 18 months.
Mrs. Coy was born Nov. 8, 1868, to James D. and Amanda Parks Barnhill in Bartholomew County. She was married April 15, 1886, to Samuel Coy, who died June 9, 1933. She had lived in Bartholomew County for 73 years, until moving to the home of her son 10 years ago. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church southwest of Whiteland.
Surviving besides Mrs. Boll and the son Dallas are two other sons, Ralph E. Coy and Aubrey Coy, both of Rushville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in Edinburg. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery there.
The casket will be moved to the Dallas Coy home where it will be open Wednesday until time of going to the church.

Held At Edinburgh

WHITELAND, May 6. — Death came to Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Coy, age 83, in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital Monday night. She had been in failing health for 18 months.
Funeral services are to be conducted at the Edinburg Methodist Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Wilma Allen, pastor of the Honey Creek E.U.B. Church, officiating. Assisting will be the Rev. Sylvia Henby, and the Rev. B. K. Johnson. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
The body will be taken from the Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home to the home of her son, Dallas Coy, two miles west of Whiteland Wednesday afternoon and friends are invited to call and to attend the rites.
Resided in Kansas Community
Mrs. Coy was born in Bartholomew County on Nov. 8, 1868, and was the daughter of James D. and Amanda Park Barnhill. She lived on a farm in the Kansas community for 73 years. When this land was purchased for Camp Atterbury she moved with her son and his family to their present home.
She was married to Samuel W. Coy in Bartholomew County on April 15, 1886, and they were the parents of five children.
In her girlhood, Mrs. Coy united with the New Light Christian Church and after moving to Whiteland she transferred her membership to the Honey Creek Church.
Surviving are the three sons, Ralph E. Coy, Aubrey D. Coy, of Rushville, and Dallas Coy; one daughter, Mrs. Reba Boll, of Columbus.
Also remaining are four grandchildren, Deloris Coy, of Akron, O.; Wayne Coy, of Columbus; Mrs. Louise Angle and Donald Coy, of Rushville; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Coy died June 9, 1933 and one daughter, Martha A., preceded the mother in death.
