Date of death: 22 Sep 1892 Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana
The Franklin Democrat,, Friday, September 30, 1892, page 4
Minnie Hoover Cox, departed this life, after an illness of about six months, on the morning of September 22, 1892, at her mother’s home in Franklin, Johnson county, Indiana. She was born in Jessamine county, Kentucky, August 14, 1866, was married to John Cox, on 2nd March, 1887.
While in the midst of the joys of life she was taken with that dread disease consumption, and the grim monster; death called and she obeyed, leaving husband and one child besides many aching hearts to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church and lived a devoted Christian life, though burdened with the mortality common to all as long as we are upon the earth. She bore her sickness with a smiling patience until death had called her up. In her home there is a vacancy, in heaven one more tie. No mother’s voice is heard speaking a warning word to guide aright the footsteps of her child, or impart a word of cheer to the husband. No more will her form cross the threshold of your home, she cannot come to you, but you may go to her.
The funeral services were held at the Franklin Christian church by Rev. P. O. Duncan, from the Text found in the 27th Chapter 1st Verse of Proverbs. ‘Boast not thyself of tomorrow for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.’ C. B. K.
