==============================
John R. Covert died suddenly Sunday morning at the home of his son, Joseph Covert, in this city. For some time deceased had been troubled with neuralgia of the heart, and had a severe attack about a week ago while at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. S. Young. He apparently recovered and on Friday had gone to his son Joseph’s. Sunday morning about 6 o’clock his granddaughter on going to call Mr. Covert to breakfast found him lying on the bed dead, where he had fallen after dressing himself. It is supposed another attack of heart trouble had come on and this time resulting fatally. The remains were taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Young. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock at Hopewell, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall and Rev. J. H. Bright. Deceased was born March 23, 1818, in Kentucky, and came to Johnson county when but five years old, where he resided continuously seventy-six years. For many years he was an elder in the Hopewell church, and after his removal to Franklin served in this capacity for a number of years.
