Gurly Covert, age twenty-five years, and a young man much respected, died at his home in Pleasant township, Wed­nesday, of consumption. Three years ago he went to California for the benefit of his health and improved con­siderably. But on his return home his health again declined. He leaves a young wife and no children.

Note: Johnson County, Indiana.; Marriage Records 1875–1901 Volumn 3, D. A. R., transcribed by Edna Thompson Bice, records on page 17 that Francis G. Covert married Beryl Tingle on 31 Oct 1894. This would explain why he is buried in the Tingle Plot in Greenwood Cemetery.
The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920 page 42, referencing Book H-18, page 24, records that G. Covert, a twenty-five-year-old white male, died 19 Jul 1896 in Indiana.
