BASIL E. COVERT
Basil E. Covert, 76, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood.
He was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Indianapolis. His parents were Basil and Ida (Kirtch) Covert. He married Martha (Cummings) Covert on July 24, 1954, in Indianapolis. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Theresa K. Halberstadt of Greenwood; a son, Jeff Covert of Greenwood; a sister, Mildred Dyson of Indianapolis; a brother, Joe Covert of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dan Hendricks; and a daughter, Donna Hood.
He was a self-employed painter for more than 20 years and also worked part time for Warren Township school system as a custodian.
He was a member of Christ Our Shepherd Church of the Brethren.
A service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.
