Richard Wayne ’Rick’ Corley
Richard Wayne "Rick" Corley, 65, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Edinburgh.
He was born April 28, 1938, in Shelbyville. His parents were Robert Evans and Alpha Mae Corley. He married Debra L. (Purdy) Corley on April 28, 1984. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Derrick Matthew Corley and Kris Robert Corley; three daughters, Robin Yvonne Haworth, Debra Sue Riddle and Johanna Gail Mann; three brothers, Rex Corley of Florida and Leon and Gene Corley, both of Shelbyville; two sisters, Shirley Williams and Marian Hague, both of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Greensburg High School.
He served on the Edinburgh Police Department for 12 years, part of that time as a detective. He was later employed by McQuik’s in Columbus as a manager for 11 years, retiring in 2002. He was most recently employed at Menards in Columbus in the security department.
He was a member of Nineveh Masonic Lodge 317.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the USS Ranger.
Services are private. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. in Franklin, with a Masonic service by Nineveh Masonic Lodge 317 at 7 p.m. Thursday. Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Jollity United Methodist Church in Edinburgh.
