John D. Compton

John D. Compton, 71, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Paris Memorial in Franklin. He was a resident of Colum­bus.

He was born May 5, 1930, in Greenwood. His parents were Roscoe and Bonnie (Barker) Compton. He married Joan B. (Billingsley) Compton. She survives. Other survivors include a son, John Michael Compton of Frank­lin; two daughters, LuAnn Followell and Linda Crippen, both of Columbus; a sister, Laura VanVleet of Franklin; and four grandchildren. He was pre­ceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He was employed for 45 years as a laborer by Taylor Bros. Construction in Columbus, having retired in 1990.

He was a member of Laborer’s Un­ion 741.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
