The remains of Mrs. Hattie Compton, wife of Len Compton, who died at Tipton Monday, were brought to Edinburg Tuesday evening. Funeral services were held Wednesday, conducted by Rev. J. Wesley Turner, now of Evansville. Deceased was a former resident of Edinburg.
Note: The 1880 US Federal Census for Nineveh, Johnson County, Indiana records thirty-year-old, Indiana-born farmer Len Compton, his thirty-one-year-old, Indiana-born music teacher wife, Harriet Compton, their Indiana-born children, eight-year-old Rinaldo and four-year-old Irene Compton, thirty-four-year-old, Kentucky-born farm laborer, Joseph A. Noble, and Harriet’s sister, eighteen-year-old, Iowa-born school teacher, E. Armstrong.
