Gene Collins, of this city, received a telegram Monday evening announcing the serious illness of his father, Mat Collins, at his home in Martinsville. Mr. Collins left immediately for that city to find his father rapidly sinking. He died at an early hour Tuesday morning. Deceased was city clerk of Martinsville at the time of his death.
