John Coffman widely known in the Nineveh community died at his home in Nineveh Sunday morning at 1:30 o’clock. Death was due to hardening of the arteries which became serious three weeks ago.
Mr. Coffman was born in Bartholomew County October 27, 1858. He was married to Sarah Goetz on January 13, 1878, and they had lived in Nineveh almost all of their married life. They were the parents of twelve children, ten of whom with the widow survive. They are Mrs. Lewis Chandler of Indianapolis, Mrs. M. Barker of Greenwood, Mrs. Walter Parsley of Needham, Mrs. Linnie Mead, Mrs. Claude Short, Mrs. Orville McQuinn, Mrs. Walter Cobb of Franklin; George Coffman of Franklin, Chas. Coffman, Nineveh, and Isaac Coffman of Indianapolis. A brother, James Coffman, lives near Edinburg.
Mr. Coffman was a life-long member of the Nineveh Methodist Church and held membership in the Knights of Pythias Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at the Nineveh Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. Stanley Hendricks of Brookville, who will be assisted by the Rev. G. F. Powers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
