Esta Coffman dies at 80, early Thursday morning Mrs. Esta Coffman, 80, Franklin, died early Thursday morning at Johnson County Memorial Hospital eight hours after her admission. She was a patient at National Nursing Home in Franklin and had been ill since March 1969. Born March 4, 1891 in Johnson County to Thomas Batton and the former Ella Coy, she was educated in Johnson County rural schools. She married George Coffman in 1907. He preceded her in death September 23, 1970. Mrs. Coffman was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin, Franklin chapter of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Walnut Street Club. A daughter, Mrs. Doris McLean, Boulder, Colorado, a son, Maurice Coffman, Zionsville, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren survive. Also surviving are a brother, Sam Batton, Franklin, and five sisters: Mrs. Mary Oakes, Mrs. Edith Hoskins, both of Franklin; Mrs. Katherine Kern, Greenwood; Mrs. Ida Pierce, Bargersville; Mrs. Mabel Long, New Castle; and Mrs. Carrie Bates, Florida. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin with Rev. Myron Kauffman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
