CLARK CALLED BY DEATH
Sylvester (Ben) Clark, 71, who resided at 1002 Avenue E, died at the Putnam County Hospital at 4:55 Thursday morning where he had been admitted Wednesday.
Survivors are the wife, Mattie; two son, Kenneth of Franklin and Lawrence, Indianapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Florene Jones, Indianapolis; two sisters, Mattie Gullette, Peoria, Ill., and Flossie Owens, Edinburg; two stepsons Donald and Thomas Goldsby, Indianapolis; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda Bell, Indianapolis, and six grandchildren.
Last rites will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Whitaker Funeral Home in Greencastle. Rev. Kyle Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 this evening.

Rites Announced
Funeral services will be conducted for Sylvester Clark, of Greencastle, father of Kenneth Clark of Amity, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Whitaker Funeral Home in that city.
Burial will be made in Greenlawn cemetery here.
Friends may call at the funeral home at any time and are invited to attend the rites.
During the past eight years, Mr. Clark had suffered three heart attacks and at 9 o’clock Wednesday night he suffered a stroke and was taken to the Putnam County Hospital at Greencastle where he died at 4:50 o’clock Thursday morning.
Born Near Nineveh
Mr. Clark was born near Nineveh on Feb. 10, 1898, and his parents were the late Charles Henry and Catherine Coy Clark.
He had spent most of his life in Indianapolis where he was supervisor of the Columbia Conserve Company for 22 years.
He was married twice and his first wife was Lillie Mitchell and three children were born to them. she died about 1935, and he then married Mattie Goldsby.
She survives with two sons and a daughter, Mr. Clark, of Amity; Lawrence Clark and Mrs. Florence Jones, both of Indianapolis.
Others remaining are six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Flossie Owens, of Edinburg; and Mrs. Mattie Gellette, of Peoria, Ill.
Mr. Clark was a member of a Christian Church at Greencastle.
