Death of Former Johnson County Man.
A dispatch from Thorntown, Wednesday says: L. E. Clark, a well-known traveling man, died at his home here this morning, after suffering intense agony from lockjaw for several days. About ten days ago a rusty nail penetrated his foot, causing the attack. Mr. Clark was a native of Johnson county, this state where he was born in 1853. For twenty years he has been an honored resident of this place, being closely identified as a member and worker in the Presbyterian church and Sunday school and recognized as a successful business man. He was member of the local lodge of Masons and of Lebanon Commandery, Knights of Templars. As a commercial traveler he was well known throughout the state, having been connected with prominent dry goods firms and with the dry-goods and notion house of Cushbaum & Co. of Indianapolis. He leaves a wife (nee Covert, of Hopewell) and three children.
