  Gladys I. Chastain, 101, died
Saturday, May 21, 2005, at
Indiana Masonic Home in
Franklin. She was a resident
of Franklin.

  She was born June 22, 1903, in
Nineveh. Her parents were
Frank and Myrtle (Stevason)
Short. She married Murray
Myers. He preceded her in
death. She then married Marion
Chastain. He also preceded her
in death. Survivors include a
brother, Eugene Short of
Southport; two sisters, Sena
Tegler and Helen Witte, both
of Columbus; two
grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by two sons,
Don and Glen Myers.

  She was a graduate of Manual
High School.

  She retired from Mechanics
Laundry as an accounts
receivable clerk.

  She was a member of Downey
Avenue Christian Church and
also attended Zion Evangelical
Church of Christ and Southport
Presbyterian Church.

  The Rev. Cleon Wright will
conduct a graveside service at
2 p.m. Tuesday at Washington
Park East Cemetery in
Indianapolis. Friends may call
from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday
at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral
