Lifelong Edinburgh resident Merriell B. Chandler, 68, died this morning at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
He was born Feb. 23, 1921, to David M. and Margaret Alice (Richardson) Chandler in Edinburgh.
He married Alice Weber on March 22, 1947. She survives. Also surviving are nine children, Virginia Falor of Nashville, Shirley Jacobs of Columbus, and Martha Morgan, Clara Hudson, Sharon Hibbs, Alice Finley, Vivian Morgan, Joyce King and Merriell A. Chandler, all of Edinburgh; three sisters, Dorothy Lain of Hope, Catherine Spahr of Brownstown and Doris Rice of Georgetown; and 17 grandchildren.
A son, Frank David Chandler, and four brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Chandler retired from Hill Bros. Veneer (now Hammermill), where he worked more than 30 years.
A member of American Legion Post 233, Edinburgh, he served in the Army during World War II.
The Rev. Donald Wiltfong will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Monday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, Edinburgh, where friends may call Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.
