Funeral For Prominent Young
Man to be Held Monday

William Carpenter, age 27, prominent Franklin young man, and son of George W. Carpenter, died at the home of B. E. King, on South Home avenue from Bright’s disease Saturday morning at 1 o’clock.
Mr. Carpenter had been suffering with the disease for over two years and had been seriously ill for the past few weeks, and, although his death was not entirely unexpected, his many friends are deeply grieved to hear of his passing away.
He was born January 30, 1900, at Greenwood, where he lived until he was eight years of age, and then moved to Franklin with his parents where he had lived until the date of his death. He was graduated from Franklin high school in a918, and upon his graduation, he enrolled in Franklin college and was a member of the S. A. T. C. He was one of the charter members of the Franklin post of the American Legion, and also belonged to the Presbyterian church, the Masonic and Ted Men’s lodges. For the past ten years he had been employed by the Interstate Public Service Company.
On October 23, 1922, he married Miss Kathryn King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. King. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father George Carpenter, a brother, Curtis Carpenter, of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs Hugh Graham of Port Arthur, Texas.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Presbyterian church, and will be conducted by Rev. K. Palmer Miller, who will be assisted by Rev. Ray Ragsdale of the Methodist church.
