Edinburgh — Curtis Emerson Calvert, 52, Edinburgh, died this morning at Bartholomew County Hospital after a lengthy illness.
A 1959 graduate of Franklin College, he had been a teacher at Hendricks Township Elementary School in the Southwestern School District in Shelby County. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Edinburgh American Legion and Edinburgh Masonic Lodge.
Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Chapman and the Rev. Paul Palusko at 11 a.m. Monday at Edinburgh Methodist Church. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Sunday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home. Burial and a military graveside service by Edinburgh American Legion will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Calvert was born April 12, 1933, in Edinburgh, son of Reba Long Calvert of Edinburgh and the late Herbert Lee Calvert. He married Sharon Gundrum Sept. 8, 1957, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Karen Bauman, and a sister, Jo Ann Wilbur, both of Edinburgh.

Curtis E. Calvert, 52, Edinburgh, died this morning in Bartholomew County Hospital, Columbus, after a lengthy illness.
He had been a schoolteacher for many years at the Hendricks Township Elementary School in the Southwestern School District of Shelby County.
He was born April 12, 1933, in Edinburgh to Herbert Lee and Reba (Long) Calvert. His mother lives in Edinburgh.
He graduated from Edinburgh High School and Franklin College in 1959.
He was a member of Edinburgh American Legion and Edinburgh Masonic Lodge 100. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Edinburgh United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Palusko and Ray Chapman officiating. Friends may call at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, Edinburgh, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A memorial service will be conducted by the Edinburgh Masonic Lodge at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Edinburgh American Legion at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Gundrum) Calvert, whom he married Sept. 8, 1957; a daughter, Karen Bauman, and a sister, Jo Ann Wilbur, all of Edinburgh.
