Edinburgh — Curtis Emerson Calvert, 52, Edinburgh, died this mor­ning at Bartholomew County Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A 1959 graduate of Franklin Col­lege, he had been a teacher at Hen­dricks Township Elementary School in the Southwestern School District in Shelby County. He was a Navy vet­eran of the Korean War and was a member of Edinburgh American Le­gion and Edinburgh Masonic Lodge.

Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Chapman and the Rev. Paul Palusko at 11 a.m. Monday at Edinburgh Methodist Church. Cal­ling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Sunday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home. Burial and a military graveside service by Edinburgh American Le­gion will be at Rest Haven Cem­etery.

Calvert was born April 12, 1933, in Edinburgh, son of Reba Long Calvert of Edinburgh and the late Herbert Lee Calvert. He married Sharon Gundrum Sept. 8, 1957, and she survives.

Other survivors include a daugh­ter, Karen Bauman, and a sister, Jo Ann Wilbur, both of Edinburgh.

Curtis E. Calvert, 52, Edinburgh, died this morning in Bartholomew County Hospital, Columbus, after a lengthy ill­ness.

He had been a schoolteacher for many years at the Hendricks Township Elementary School in the Southwestern School District of Shelby County.

He was born April 12, 1933, in Edin­burgh to Herbert Lee and Reba (Long) Calvert. His mother lives in Edinburgh.

He graduated from Edinburgh High School and Franklin College in 1959.

He was a member of Edinburgh American Legion and Edinburgh Mas­onic Lodge 100. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Edinburgh United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Palusko and Ray Chapman officiating. Friends may call at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, Edin­burgh, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A memorial service will be conducted by the Edinburgh Masonic Lodge at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Edinburgh American Legion at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Gundrum) Calvert, whom he married Sept. 8, 1957; a daughter, Karen Bau­man, and a sister, Jo Ann Wilbur, all of Edinburgh.
