Dean W. Burkett
In failing health since February, Dean Wesley Burkett died Wednesday, October 30, 1996, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. A resident of Martinsville, he was 35.
Mr. Burkett left survivors in Brown County.
He was born September 19, 1961, in Franklin to Noel W. “Abe” and Janet K. Long Burkett. His parents survive in Martinsville.
He and Tammy J. Walker were married September 22, 1990. She survives.
Mr. Burkett was graduated from Martinsville High School in 1980.
Mr. Burkett worked as an operating engineer for Local 103 in Indianapolis for the past 10 years.
He was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville.
Mr. Burkett had been an instructor for the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Martinsville Masonic Lodge and C & S Archery.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and racing go-karts.
Other survivors include two sons, Elliott Dean Burkett and Evan Wesley Burkett, both of Martinsville; two sisters, Noelette Henderson of Bloomington and Merilee Houseworth of Martinsville; and several aunts, including Brown County resident Betty Snider.
A service was conducted Saturday, November 2, at Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. Burial was in Martinsville’s Liberty Cemetery.
