Mrs. Sophia Burgett, age 70 years, died early Monday morning at her home in Nineveh, after an illness of several weeks with the grip. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by Rev. John C. Miller. Deceased was the mother of Marsh Ralston of Nineveh, Absolem Ralston of Terre Haute, and Harrison Ralston of New Point, Missouri. The latter two sons arrived here Saturday in response to telegrams informing them of their mother’s dangerous illness.

The 1860 US Federal Census for Williamsburgh, Johnson County, Indiana records thirty-nine-year-old, Ohio-born farmer Josiah Ralston, his thirty-three-year-old, Indiana-born wife Sophia Ralston and their Indiana-born children, fifteen-year-old Abagail, thirteen-year-old Marshall, six-year-old Absolem and four-year-old Harrison Ralston.
Second Lieutenant Josiah Ralston, a member of Company H, 54th Indiana Infantry, was wounded in battle on 29 Dec 1862. He died of those wounds 12 Jan 1863.
