Gussie G. Burgett

Morgantown area resident Gussie G. Burgett died Friday, May 12, 1995, at the Franklin Nursing Home in Johnson County. She was 84.

Mrs. Burgett was born August 15, 1910, in Johnson County’s Union Township to John D. and Eva May Kephart Smith.

She and Raymond F. Burgett were married June 28, 1932, in Hopewell. He survives.

Mrs. Burgett was a homemaker.

She was descended from some of the pioneer families of Johnson County.

Mrs. Burgett was graduated from Johnson County’s Union Township High School in 1928.

She was a member of the Christian Chapel Church in Johnson County, the Johnson County His­torical Society, the Indiana Histori­cal Society and the Kentucky His­torical Society. She was also a member of genealogical societ­ies in Ohio and Kentucky.

Her biography was featured in editions of Who’s Who in Kentucky Genealogy in 1981 and 1985.

Other survivors include two sons, John L. Burgett of Franklin and James A. Burgett of Indianapolis; six grand­children; a great-grand-daughter; and two nephews.

The Reverend Albert Lorber led a service Tuesday, May 16, at the Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.

Burial was in Johnson County’s Harris Cemetery.
