John F. Bullock, an old resident of Franklin, died last Friday at his home on Martin Street. He had been in poor health a long time. For the last few months he had been confined to the house. He was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, but had resided in Franklin since 1869. His wife survives him. He was a brick mason by trade and many of the principal buildings in the city were erected under his super­vision. He at one time served as marshal and made a good record as a peace officer. He was a veteran of the Civil War, serving in the 144th Indiana. Funeral services were held Sunday af­ternoon from the residence, conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Franklin, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, Health Officier’s Record Number 17, page 33 records that John F. Bullock died at about 11 o’clock on 18 May 1900 at his residence, 22 Martin Place in Franklin from exhaustion, caused fibroid phthisis [tuberculosis], aged sixty-seven years, five months and twenty-three days. He was male, white, married and a brick mason, born in Jefferson County, Kentucky. His father's name was Richard Bullock, birthplace unknown and his mother's maiden name Marry [sic] C. Grimes, born in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The informant was Frank Hughes. John was buried in Franklin, Indiana on 20 May 1900, Dudley Peek, undertaker.
