MISS STELLA M. BROWN.

Stella May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brown, near Stone’s Crossing, died last week. The deceased was in the fifth year of her age, and an exceptionally bright and intelligent child. Her last illness was of a few days duration only. Kind hands did all in their power to alleviate her suffering; yet she continued to grow worse till on the morning of July 30th, when the summons came.

OBITUARY.

DIED—Near Stone’s Crossing, Ind., Stella May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brown. The deceased was only in the fifth year of her age and an exceptionally bright child. Her last illness was only of short duration and although kind and loving hands did all in their power to alleviate her suffering, yet she continued to grow worse, till on the morning of the 30th of July, just as the sun began to shed its light above the forest trees, the summons came and little Stella closed her eyes forever upon all that is earthly. But as we wept around her bedside how sweet the consolation to know that around the throne of God was a more beautiful dawning; another little lamb was gathered into the fold of heaven.

What It Means.

Words upon the death of Stella Brown,
by John L. Jones.

––––

Only a little mound in the churchyard old,
but oh, its meaning how can tell;

It means a happy, sinless soul,
No more on earth shall dwell.

It means a empty, lonely space
Around that hearth so kind:

It means that sorrow has found a place
with loved ones left behind.

It means a glittering crown so bright
In heaven shall ever shine.

It means another robe of white
Is worn in heaven’s bright clime.

It means another one has gone
To sing around the throne.

It means that Stella’s work is done
And God has called her home.
