OBITUARY.

There can scarcely be a sadder death in the family circle than that of mother—one that is missed more—in every nook and corner of the home; mother always true, kind and helpful, ever ready to welcome the boys, girls and friends home; always ready to feed, shelter and care for. Where’s the boy or girl that has been blessed with a mother, home and all it implies but cannot recall thousands of kind acts, words and tuck-a-ways to bed by mother? Her kind words, kind hands and smiles will linger with the boys. The man—the old man—even thinks of mother years after her form has crumbled in the grave and returned to dust, as our Creator has decreed. We desire to pay a tribute to a mother that filled her home with kind acts, motherly words and duties well performed.

Eva J. Vanarsdall was born in Kentucky, October 24, 1833. Married John F. Brown, January 31, 1855. Died, April 24, 1894, aged 60 years and 6 months. To this union were given four sons and three daughters. All are living, grown, married. The husband is living in his home two miles east of Whiteland. Mother’s body was laid to rest in the beautiful city of the dead in Greenwood, and her soul no doubt rests in the Celestial City. It behooves her children and husband to be ready, for you know not the day nor the hour when the Son of Man shall come.

The writer, years ago, knew the deceased in her home in the daily transactions of life, and knows whereof he writes. We can only say good bye and hope the family may be united some sweet day in the happy beyond.   W.
