Little Earl Brown, a step-son of Jas. Townsend, living one mile northwest of Edinburg, met with a sad fate on Monday last. In some way unknown to his parents, he fell into a barrel half full of water which was kept in the barn. When found, life was extinct, though no bruises were found on the body. The Coroner held an inquest upon the body and reported accidental death by drowning.
