A. N. [sic] Brooks, of Whiteland, died at his home on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock, aged about thirty-five years. About a week before his death he was taken ill with la grippe which rapidly developed into acute pneumonia with the above result. Mr. Brooks was born and raised near Whiteland and was a well-known and highly respected young man and a host of friends together with a devoted wife and one child are left to mourn his untimely death. He was president of the Whiteland Canning Company.

Resolutions of Respect.
Inasmuch as God in His all-wise providence has removed from our ranks our beloved companion, A. R. Brooks, who was so suddenly called from time to eternity Jan. 25th, 1890, we, the members of the Whiteland Military Band, feeling deeply that was have sustained an irreparable loss, and desiring to express our high appreciation of the true manhood and noble qualities of mind and heart that shone forth in the life of our departed comrade, do resolve:
1st. That as a member of our band he had endeared himself to us by his pleasant, noble and generous disposition, by his earnestness and energy in upholding and promoting the interests of the band, and by his superior ability in the art he loved so well.
2nd. That by his death we have lost an honored and faithful member, an able musician and an esteemed and highly respected friend and brother.
3rd. That we cherish his memory and commend his manly Christian character; and that we extend to his bereaved wife and relatives our heartfelt sympathies in this the hour of their sad bereavement.
4th. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to his wife and also to each of the county papers for publication.
